May 3—EUREKA — Columbia Falls scored three runs in the third and fifth inning and staved off a Eureka Lions comeback to hold on to a 6-5 victory in high school baseball on Friday.

Jory Hill had one hit and drove in two runs, Reggie Sapa picked up three hits and scored a run as the Wildcats (11-1) won their sixth-straight game. Sapa closed out the game, pitching the final 1 2-3 innings with no hits or runs to pick up the save.

Rowan Burow started for Eureka (9-3), struck out four with six earned runs across five innings. Tyce Van Orden pitched the final two innings, allowing no runs as the Lions scored two in the sixth to bring the game within one run at 6-5.

Van Orden scored two runs and added two hits out of the leadoff spot. Burow went 2-for-3 with two RBIs. The Lions were held without an extra-base hit.

Polson 10, Ronan 0

POLSON — Cole Wadsworth spun a gem, five innings of one-hit ball with 10 strikeouts as the Polson Pirates cruised to a victory over the Ronan Chiefs.

Holden Emerson provided the offense for the Pirates (8-4), going 2-for-3 with a double and four RBIs.

In the bottom of the third inning, Cody Haggard launched a 2-run home run to extend the Pirates lead to 9-0. Haggard finished with two runs scored and three RBIs.

Emerson and Haggard drove in all seven RBIs, the other three were unearned.

Liam Jackson took the bump for Ronan (5-8-1), lasting 1 2-3 innings, with six runs, two of them earned. Ben Mitchell took over in relief and finished the game with four runs, three of them earned and four hits allowed. The game ended in five innings due to the mercy rule.
