The Los Angeles Rams were one of just two teams that didn’t make a pick in the first round of the draft on Thursday night, with the Houston Texans being the other. They’ll have to wait the longest to make their initial selection of the 2025 draft, sitting at No. 46 overall after trading down with the Atlanta Falcons.
The Rams also have the 90th overall pick in the third round, so they’re equipped with two top-100 selections tonight. Experts have released their Day 2 mock drafts in an attempt to predict which prospects will land where on Friday night and one name popped up frequently for the Rams: LSU tight end Mason Taylor.
In addition to Taylor, experts also have the Rams taking Tyler Shough, Jalen Milroe, Trey Amos and Carson Schwesinger, among others.
Here’s a roundup of the latest mock drafts heading into Friday night’s action.
Draft Wire
46. CB Trey Amos, Ole Miss
90. S Malachi Moore, Alabama
The Rams focus on the secondary in Draft Wire’s mock draft, taking Amos in Round 2 and Moore in the third. Amos was linked to the Rams as a possible first-round target and now that he’s fallen into the second round, he could be a good fit for them at No. 46.
USA TODAY
46. QB Tyler Shough, Louisville
The Rams moved back from the first round but still get a quarterback with traits in Round 2. Shough is one of the oldest prospects in the draft but has the tools to be an effective starter at the NFL level. He could sit behind Matthew Stafford in 2025 before taking over in the near future.
90. WR Kyle Williams, Washington State
ESPN reported this week that some people in the Rams’ building are “very high” on Shough as a prospect, so we’ll see whether those people are decision-makers. If Les Snead and Sean McVay are the ones who like Shough, we could see the Rams pull the trigger. Williams is a dynamic receiver with downfield speed, so he could become a deep threat for Los Angeles.
FOX Sports
46. LB Carson Schwesinger, UCLA
The UCLA kid stays in L.A. and gets to work behind one of the best defensive lines in the league.
With the Rams’ glaring weakness at linebacker and Schwesinger still on the board, this pick makes a lot of sense. Schwesinger would be a major upgrade and he’s widely viewed as the second-best linebacker in the class.
ESPN
46. QB Jalen Milroe, Alabama
The Rams had a private meeting with Milroe in the predraft process — they were the final team he met with. Milroe can see the field as a rookie in some running and goal-line packages while developing his passing mechanics under coach Sean McVay.
This would really shake things up for the Rams and any other teams looking for a quarterback. The Rams met with Milroe so there’s obviously interest, but how highly Los Angeles values him is unclear. In this mock, Shedeur Sanders and Shough both come off the board by the 39th pick so Milroe would be the top QB at this spot.

46. TE Mason Taylor, LSU
Taylor is young and could still be growing into his talent and, more importantly, his strength. In his current form, he is a TE2/3 candidate — more of a move tight end detached from the line of scrimmage as a receiver — but if he gets stronger, he can be a more versatile and consistent contributor.
90. CB Dorian Strong, Virginia Tech
Strong, ironically, lacks some strength in press-man coverage and run-defense situations near the line of scrimmage, but he is a smart, competitive zone-scheme cornerback with a natural ability to get his hands on passes and cause constant disruption at the catch point.
Taylor generated first-round buzz late in the process, with Daniel Jeremiah even saying he wouldn’t be surprised if the Rams took him at No. 26. They didn’t, but they could at 46 after trading down.
Strong would fill a need at cornerback and bring sticky coverage skills to the secondary.
The Athletic
46. TE Mason Taylor, LSU
The youngest player in the draft and one of the smoothest tight ends in college football last season, Taylor — son of Jason Taylor and nephew of Zach Thomas — could be a phenomenal fit in Sean McVay’s attack for years to come.
90. CB Benjamin Morrison, Notre Dame
Another nod for Taylor from The Athletic. Again, he’s a good fit and could be the top tight end on the board at 46, so this shouldn’t surprise anyone if it happens.
Morrison has injury concerns but falling to No. 90 would be shocking. He’s arguably a first-round talent when healthy but if the Rams can steal him in Round 3, that’d be a big win.
Sports Illustrated
46. CB Trey Amos, Ole Miss
The Rams were linked to Amos with their first-round pick at No. 26 before trading down. They still land the physical, disruptive corner.
90. TE Gunnar Helm, Texas
Amos and Helm would be a nice start to the draft for Los Angeles after trading back. They both have Day 1-starter potential at positions where the Rams could use a playmaker.
CBS Sports
46. LB Carson Schwesinger, UCLA
The Rams stay local with a linebacker who’ll clearly upgrade their position group that’s in need of a talent infusion.
90. DT Deone Walker, Kentucky
Schwesinger would be a solid pickup but Walker is a bit puzzling. He’s a 344-pound nose tackle at a position the Rams addressed in free agency with Poona Ford. He’d have trouble finding playing time right away.
Bleacher Report
46. TE Mason Taylor, LSU
90. QB Tyler Shough, Louisville
Taylor and Shough are both familiar names at this point in the mock draft roundup. Shough would be more palatable at No. 90 than 46 and getting Taylor in Round 2 would be a good value.
33rd Team
46. TE Mason Taylor, LSU
90. LB Danny Stutsman, Oklahoma
Stutsman is one of the more athletic linebackers in this class and could pique the attention of the Rams in Round 3.
