We’re moving quickly through the NFL offseason. Free agency has quieted down, and up next is the 2025 NFL draft (April 24-26, hosted this year by Green Bay). After that comes the 2025 schedule release. New Orleans Saints fans always travel well, and this year has some compelling road trips lined up. So when should we grab our calendars and start circling dates for this year’s games?
Assuming the NFL follows the same pattern as recent years, the schedule will drop in mid-May, maybe sooner. We’ve seen the NFL schedule release on May 15, May 11, May 12, May 12 (again), and May 7 over the last five years. The 2024 schedule was released on the third Wednesday in May, but that would be May 21 this year, so maybe the second Wednesday (May 14) is more likely. Either way, mid-May seems to be the established target.
But we already know which teams the Saints will play against in 2025. The NFL scheduling formula has them teed up for games with the NFC West, AFC East, and a few same-place finishers from around the league — plus their usual games with their NFC South rivals:
Saints’ schedule of 2025 opponents
Home | Away |
Atlanta Falcons | Atlanta Falcons |
Carolina Panthers | Carolina Panthers |
Tampa Bay Buccaneers | Tampa Bay Buccaneers |
Arizona Cardinals | Buffalo Bills |
San Francisco 49ers | Chicago Bears |
New England Patriots | Los Angeles Rams |
New York Jets | Miami Dolphins |
New York Giants | Seattle Seahawks |
Tennessee Titans |
What about the preseason schedule? We don’t yet know which teams the Saints will be playing in the three-game summer exhibition series, but head coach Kellen Moore has said they’ll explore scheduling joint practices with some of their preseason opponents. The preseason schedule should be released about a week after the regular season slate, so stay tuned.
