Penn State’s annual Blue-White spring game will take place Saturday afternoon in Beaver Stadium to give fans a small taste of things to come in the fall. With a new defensive coordinator in place with the offseason hiring of Jim Knowles and an offense returning key players like Drew Allar, Nicholas Singleton, and Kaytron Allen and welcoming some new transfer wide receivers like Kyron Hudson and Devonte Ross, there is much to look forward to in the fall. coming off a run to the College Football Playoff semifinal, the expectations are high for the 2025 season. But if you want to get any looks at the team in action in the spring game, you will need to be in attendance in Beaver Stadium because this spring game will not be televised.

The importance of broadcasting the spring game has been diminished in recent years and perhaps even moreso this year with coaches and programs a bit more cautious about showcasing what they have to offer in the era of NIL and the transfer portal. It is the main reason why some programs have backed away from holding a traditional spring game and making a big deal out of the event this offseason. Penn State has not joined the crowd of teams walking away from a spring game yet, but not pushing to have the Blue-White Game televised is a disappointment for many who will not be able to make the pilgrimage to Happy Valley.

Instead, fans not able to get to the stadium today for the spring game festivities inside and outside of Beaver Stadium will wait for reports coming out of the makeshift press box and on social media to get their Penn State football fix.

Penn State has not revealed the exact format for the Blue-White Game but intended to use a fairly standard scrimmage approach with two teams. Don’t expect many of the star players to get on the field for long, if at all. The Blue-White Game will be more of an opportunity for backup and reserve players to get some snaps and experience. But that should make for some interesting developments to pay attention to.
