Santa Anita Derby winner Journalism now has 7-2 odds after he was named the 3-1 morning-line favorite for the 2025 Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs, according to the latest available odds from Twinspires as of 8 p.m. Friday.

Trained by Michael McCarthy, Journalism got the No. 8 post in a full field of 20 during April 26’s draw for the $5 million, Grade 1 Kentucky Derby. Following the defection of Rodriguez on Thursday night, Journalism will start from the No. 7 post.

Post time is set for 7:02 p.m. today. The race will be televised by NBC.

Sovereignty, runner-up in the Florida Derby and the second choice on the morning line at 5-1, now sits at 9-1. Sovereignty, trained by Bill Mott, drew the No. 18 post. Following the defection of Grande on Friday morning, Sovereignty will start from the No. 16 post.
