The Washington Commanders continue to show heavy interest in a versatile defensive lineman with an impressive athletic profile.

Tulane defensive lineman Adin Huntington was among many draft prospects at the Commanders‘ local pro day on Tuesday, but he stood out with his ongoing connection with the team throughout the draft process.

Huntington told me he met with Dan Quinn, Adam Peters, Ryan Kerrigan, and defensive line coach Darryl Tapp separately at the local pro day in Washington. This isn’t the first time the Commanders have shown interest in the 2-time All-Conference defensive lineman, though. Adin tells me he also met with Washington at his local pro day and at the CGS All-Star game back in January, meaning the Commanders see something in Huntington that they like. Washington wanted to see his athleticism in person at the pro day with drills such as burst lateral drills, hoop run drills, dip and run drills, and many others you would see at the combine.

The Stafford, Virginia native wowed scouts with his athletic testing at his pro day with elite numbers like a 4.64 40-yard dash at 281lbs with an insane 1.61 10-yard split. He also showed off with a 38″ vertical, and 10’6″ broad jump, which would’ve been first at the combine, adding to his relative athletic score of 9.60. His size (6-foot-7, 281 lbs) and frame matched with his explosiveness show that he could line up anywhere, including outside pass-rusher, and size isn’t an issue with his 32″ arms and 77″ wingspan to get the best of offensive lineman.

Huntington has the production to match the athleticism with success on the inside and outside of the defensive line, as well as out wide as a stand-up rusher. Tulane played Adin mainly as a defensive end at the 4, 5, 7, 6, and 9 technique to rush the quarterback and stop the run in 2024, and finished with an astounding 90.5 pass rushing grade on PFF. Before transferring to Tulane in 2024, Huntington logged 48 pressures and eight sacks from the interior defensive line spot for UL Monroe, making him a force as a defensive tackle. Adin totalled 79 pressures, 12 sacks, 53 hurries, and 51 tackles in the last two seasons while moving around the line.

The Commanders need to continue fixing the defensive line after adding Javon Kinlaw in free agency. They could move players around more next season after lining up Daron Payne out wide occasionally last season. Washington could line Adin Huntington up anywhere from 0 technique over a center to outside linebacker as a stand-up pass rusher and see instant production with endless possibilities to rotate players around the line.
