For the sixth day in a row, USC football has a new commit. On Monday, the Trojans landed the pledge of Class of 2025 tight end Fisher Melton.
Melton is a local recruit, coming to USC from Rancho Santa Margarita, California. He will join the Trojans as a preferred walk-on this fall. He adds to USC’s track record under Chad Bowden of securing local talent and building a fence around Southern California.
Given his recruiting profile and USC’s tight end depth, it is unlikely that Melton will play much of a role for them this fall. However, we have seen plenty of instances in the past of walk-ons working their way up the depth chart and eventually becoming contributors, so it is not out of the realm of possibility that Melton could do so down the line.
Regardless, the addition of Melton is yet another recruiting win for Chad Bowden, Lincoln Riley and the Trojans. USC continues to accumulate talent as Riley and company look to turn the program around after back-to-back massively disappointing seasons.
