While some recently released NFL news may impact quarterbacks and where they will be taken in the early stages of the 2025 NFL draft, none involves the Tennessee Titans and will have no bearing on the No. 1 overall pick.

The big news centered on New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr and a shoulder injury that could impact his availability for the 2025 season. Before this news broke, the Saints were mentioned as a possible landing spot for a quarterback; that possibility has increased tremendously.

Jordan Plocher at Pro Football Focus took that into account in his latest mock draft, but he maintained the status quo regarding the Titans’ selection.

1. TENNESSEE TITANS: QB CAM WARD, MIAMI (FL)

In this mock scenario, the Titans decide to move on from Will Levis and start a new era with Cam Ward at the helm.

Ward was the best quarterback in college football in 2024, as his elite 92.9 PFF overall grade and 39 touchdown passes both led the nation. He parlays that on-the-field production into being the No. 1 overall pick here.

Unless groundbreaking news or a historic trade offer is made, Ward will likely be the pick in 10 days at the NFL draft in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Ward has become the consensus among media outlets and draft analysts over the past few weeks, and momentum continues to build in his favor.

If that’s the case, the Titans’ draft begins at pick No. 35 in the second round, where some interesting prospects could still be on the board. Unfortunately, Plocher only went with one round in this mock.
