- Their relationship proves that sibling connections can be strong regardless of age
For most teenagers, having a toddler sibling might seem like more of a hassle than a blessing.
But for 15-year-old Colt, his 3-year-old sister, Piper, is his biggest cheerleader — and given their 12-year age gap, their bond is much stronger than one might expect.
Colt is a dedicated athlete, playing football, basketball, and tennis year-round. While his busy sports schedule keeps his family on the go, Piper is right there with him.
“Piper is at every game,” their mother, Brooke Craig, tells PEOPLE exclusively. “She has so much fun playing at the fields and cheering on her brother.”
Despite the late game times and the challenges of keeping a routine for her daughters, Piper and Renley – the youngest of whom is only 1 year old – the family prioritizes supporting one another.
“It is important for all our kids to feel supported, just as we want our two younger girls to feel supported when it’s their turn,” Craig says.

That unwavering presence means the world to Colt. “There was one game Piper had to leave early because it got too cold. I was looking for her everywhere and couldn’t find her,” he tells PEOPLE.
“It’s definitely one of the highlights of the game for me, whether we win or lose, especially because she doesn’t understand how I could be bummed if we lose, so I am always happy to see her.”

Their mother believes their bond is special because Colt understands the responsibility of being a big brother. “He knows his little sisters look up to him and he takes that role very seriously,” Brooke explains. “It makes my heart beam to see how close they are.”
Their connection, however, extends far beyond the sidelines. Despite his busy schedule, Colt makes time to attend Piper’s school performances and birthday parties. Now that Piper has started T-ball, Colt is eager to help her practice and coach her in the backyard.
“Luckily, we’re in a small but very supportive community. Colt’s coaches are very family-oriented in the fact that they prioritize family events,” Brooke says.

As Piper has grown, so has her relationship with her brother. Now in her “toddler era,” Piper has discovered the joys of imaginative play – and Colt is always ready to join in.
“The number of tiaras, princess jewelry, tea parties and dance parties Colt has to participate in (and does it with a smile) is hilarious,” Brooke shares.
Colt and Piper’s bond is proof that sibling relationships don’t have to be defined by age gaps. Their connection, built on love and unwavering support, shows that sometimes the smallest fans make the biggest impact.
