A roundup of Southwest Florida high school sports for the week of April 14-19, 2025.

MONDAY

Baseball

ECS 11, Gulf Coast HEAT 1 (5 innings): Slater Smith had a double, 3 RBI, scored a run and stole a base. Ryder Lutz had a hit, a walk, scored 3 runs and stole 4 bases. Anthony Cabrera (double) and Gavin Teeter (steal) each went 2 for 3 with a run and RBI.

Mariner 16, Cape Coral 11: Morgan Waltz went 4 for 5 with 2 doubles, 3 RBI and 4 runs scored. Jacob Gorra went 3 for 3, drove in 5 runs and scored twice. Cape Coral’s Julious Sinboualay went 3 for 3 and scored three times, and Kellen Englehart went 2 for 4 with a double and 5 RBI.

SFCA 15, Classical Academy of Sarasota 0 (5 innings) 

Girls Lacrosse

Canterbury 13, Bishop Verot 8: Canterbury’s Isabella Corwan had 6 goals. Addie Wolfe and Samantha Till each had 4 goals, while Lily Lockard had assists for Verot.

Fort Myers 13, Estero 6

Flag Football

Bishop Verot 33, Cypress Lake 6: Cameron O’Halloran was 7 for 11 with 94 yards and 2 TDs passinf. She also had 3 rushes for 41 yards and 1 reception for 7 yards. Lila Dinkel had two rushes for 17 yards and three Receptions for 61 Yards with 4 flag pulls. Sarah Engel and Mel Moreno each had an interception.

Softball

Fort Myers 17, Gateway 2: Faith Fazzone hit a grand slam, and Sage Rodmyre (2 doubles) and Gianni Torres (double, home run) each drove in three runs.

Mariner 2, Estero 1: Calleigh Buzard had two hits, including a home run, and scored both Mariner runs. Gabi Winters had 16 strikeouts for the win.

Riverdale 6, Cape Coral 3: Jamie Penia had 2 hits with a triple and an RBI. Ella Bundy, Aleaha Acosta, and Moriah English each had a hit with an RBI. Olivia Skutt had two hits. Addie Manetta was the winning pitcher with 7 Ks. 

SFCA 13, Everglades City 3: Braelyn Davis was the winning pitcher with 10 strikeouts in 4 innings and allowed one earned run. She also led the King’s with 4 hits and 5 RBIs. Adrianna Thorne, Bella Gee, and Kaley Fleischer each contributed 2 hits.

Boys Tennis

The Oasis High School Boys’ Tennis team finished the 2025 season at the District Tournament on Monday.  The Sharks garnered five points with singles wins from Michael Abreu, Luciano Demalghaes, Brendan Overbaugh, and Emmanuel Diaz, and a doubles win from Nate Orozco and Abreu.
