Boston College offensive lineman Drew Kendall is joining the Super Bowl champs.
Kendall, an Eagles captain, was chosen by the Philadelphia Eagles in the 5th-round of the NFL Draft. He was taken 168th overall.
Most notably, Kendall, who was used on the interior of the offensive line, started 36 games at center and was named a first team All-ACC in 2024.
Kendall’s father Pete starred at BC as a guard and later played for the New York Jets.
The young lineman worked with Patriots legendary offensive line coach Dante Scarnecchia in the lead up to the draft.
Scarnecchia suggested Kendall’s three-position flexibility would serve him well going forward.
“He’s really physical. You can see it in his play,“ Scarnecchia told MassLive recently. ”He’s going to be one of those guys who has a great chance to start, and a great chance to back up three positions. Those guys are invaluable.”
BC coach Bill O’Brien was also a huge fan of Kendall.
“Drew was a great leader, a great captain,” O’Brien told MassLive. “He has all the qualities you look for in a center. He’s very similar to (former Patriot Dan) Koppen.
“Very smart, very tough, athletic, so I think he’ll be on a team and he’ll do a good job. He could have come back. He decided to go out, and I supported that. I think he did everything we asked of him.”
Kendall’s teammate, offensive tackle Ozzy Trapilo, was taken by the Chicago Bears in the second round.
