In recent years, the Vikings have prided themselves on having a loaded wide receiver room.
They are led by Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison, but behind them, they have kept Jalen Nailor and many others who have been able to make meaningful plays at a moment’s notice for the team. In the 2025 NFL Draft, they added another in Tai Felton with their third-round selection.
The selection of Felton, though, has Pro Football Network wondering if it will have Nailor on the ropes.
“With only five draft picks, the Minnesota Vikings didn’t have much of an opportunity to heavily impact their pre-existing roster. However, in taking wide receiver Tai Felton in Round 3, the Vikings added to a position that already felt solidified, putting some of the non-Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison wideouts on alert. One of those is Jalen Nailor, the clear No. 3 receiver for Minnesota last season. . .If Minnesota doesn’t intend to extend Nailor and Felton has a strong preseason, he might not have a ton of roster value given his limited special-teams value (56 special-teams snaps in the last two seasons combined).”
When you don’t have many picks in the NFL Draft and one of them is spent on a position, you have to think it is a priority pick, or at least a best player available selection. Felton has some playmaking ability that Nailor doesn’t, but the veteran wide receiver also does some things that the rookie hasn’t shown he can do yet.
It will be something to monitor as training camp approaches and goes on.
