Apr. 17—Evan Anastas, York senior midfielder: A Varsity Maine All-State selection last spring, the Bryant University commit had 49 goals and 20 assists for the Class B finalist. Along with Quinn Walenta, a 50-goal scorer in 2024, Anastas gives the Wildcats experience and scoring punch that should put them in contention again.

Rogan Boisvert, Marshwood junior midfielder: A captain for the Hawks, Boisvert looks to improve on a strong sophomore season in which he had 21 goals, 13 assists and 42 ground balls. His play will be key for a team looking to make a deeper run in the Class B tournament.

Jackson DeLeo, Thornton Academy senior midfielder: DeLeo, committed to play lacrosse at Merrimack, had 39 goals and 13 assists last season. Thornton coach Ryan Hersey said DeLeo is a great two-way midfielder who can play strong man-to-man defense when not on the attack. His play will be key as the Golden Trojans look to contend in Class A.

Joey Foley, Deering junior midfield: Foley scored 37 goals and had five assists last season, helping the Rams advance to the Class A quarterfinals. He is a dynamic playmaker who is a matchup problem for most defenses. As Deering improves and Foley is surrounded by a stronger team, he should make even more of an impact.

Zach Gagne, Windham sophomore goalie: An all-SMAA honorable mention selection as a freshman, Gagne posted a 63% save percentage last season and stopped 193 shots. He played a major part in Windham winning nine games and reaching the Class A quarterfinals.

Martin Glynn, Massabesic senior defense: Coach Blake Foglio calls Glynn “one of the most talented on-ball defenders I’ve seen in the area.” Glynn’s fast feet and ability to place a well-timed check make him a pivotal player for the Mustangs as they look to contend for a playoff spot in Class A.

Joey Guerrette, Falmouth senior midfielder: Along with his twin brother, Gio, Guerrette gives the defending Class A state champion Navigators a 1-2 scoring punch that’s tough to defend. He had 46 goals, 27 assists and 38 ground balls last season, and has committed to continuing his lacrosse career at the University of Massachusetts. Guerrette is one of four returning All-Americans in the Navigators lineup, joined by Gio Guerrette, midfielder Hayden Davis and defender Indi Backman.

Ward Jenkins, Yarmouth senior defense: Jenkins earned USA Lacrosse All-America honors last season, leading the Clippers’ defense with 35 ground balls and 30 caused turnovers. He’ll again be a key player for Yarmouth as it looks to defend its Class B state championship. Joined by fellow defender Wyatt Gawtry and goalie Will Redfield, Jenkins gives the Clippers a group that will be tough to score on.

Wyatt Labonte, Biddeford senior attack: A first-team all-SMAA selection last season after scoring 33 goals to go with 19 assists, he was a finalist for the Travis Roy Award as one of the top boys senior hockey players in Class A. Labonte plans to continue his lacrosse career at Marymount University.

Zach Leinwand, North Yarmouth Academy senior attack: One of the top players in the Western Maine Conference last season, Leinwand is back to lead the Panthers after scoring 36 goals and four assists in 2024. A creative offensive player, Leinwand improved his dodging and outside shooting in the offseason, but is most dangerous when he gets in close to the goal.

Cam Leonhirth, Cape Elizabeth senior long stick midfielder: The Capers graduated a strong senior class from last season’s Class A runner-up team, but players like Leonhirth will ensure the team remains a contender. Leonhirth had 17 caused turnovers and 22 ground balls last season. He’ll have an expanded role on the defense this spring.

Beckett Mehlhorn, South Portland senior attack: The Red Riots’ leading scorer each of the past three seasons, Mehlhorn had 51 goals and 31 assists as a junior in 2024. He should again be one of the top offensive players in the SMAA.

Wes Merrill, Scarborough junior midfielder: An honorable mention all-SMAA selection last season, Merrill will be a key contributor again. A strong scorer, Merrill will look to help Scarborough make another deep run in the Class A tournament.

Riley Murphy, Wells senior goalie: A four-year starter in net, Murphy made 138 saves last season, helping his team win its first Class C state title. He’s among a strong group of returning Wells players looking to repeat.

Randall Walker, Freeport senior attack: Walker led the Falcons in scoring last season with 33 goals and 27 assists. He’ll also play wing on faceoffs. Freeport won 10 games and advanced to the Class B quarterfinals last season. The quarterback of his team’s attack, Walker will be a key player as the Falcons look to advance deeper in the playoffs.
