There was some movement in the Chevron Championship field after Sunday’s finish at the JM Eagle LA Championship. Five players made it in and four were pushed out.
Players who made it into the season’s first major at the Club at Carlton Woods at the last minute: Jenny Bae, Caroline Inglis, Jeongeun Lee5, Pornanong Phatlum and Emily Pedersen.
Bae, a rookie from Georgia who grew up on a chicken farm in the tiny town of Maysville, hadn’t made a cut in her first two starts but vaulted into the Chevron field thanks to a T-11 at the JM Eagle.
The following players were listed in the field at the start of last week but just missed out: Brittany Altomare, Amanda Doherty, Soo Bin Joo, Xiaowen Yin.
A spot was held for the winner of the JM Eagle, which was rookie Ingrid Lindblad, but she had already locked up her Chevron spot. Inglis was the last player to get into the field of 132 in The Woodlands, Texas.
The Chevron will be April 24-27 at the Jack Nicklaus Signature Course, where players will compete for a purse of $7.9 million.
