COLUMBIA — The season has come to a close for South Carolina women’s basketball, but for many of coach Dawn Staley’s former players, their season is just beginning.

The WNBA draft took place on April 14, when Sania Feagin, Bree Hall and Te-Hina Paopao were selected by respective professional teams. Staley has had at former player selected in nine of the past 11 WNBA Drafts, including 11 first-round selections. This year also marked the fourth time in the past nine drafts that South Carolina has had multiple selections in a season.

The three rookies joined other former Gamecocks for the start of training camp on April 27, which kicked off the official start to the 2025 WNBA season.

2025 WNBA season key dates and information

Across the 13 teams, there are only 156 roster spots available. Teams can have up to 12 players on the official roster but most teams only have 11, which emphasizes the difficulty in making the final roster after training camp.

The regular season begins May 16, with preseason games sprinkled in beforehand.
