The Seattle Seahawks signed Sam Darnold to a three-year contract earlier this offseason, but that does not necessarily mean they are completely settled on the quarterback position. Darnold’s deal is effectively a one-year contract, as the Seahawks can get out of it with relatively little pain if they choose to do so after the 2025 season. Why would they want to do that? Well, it could mean Darnold regressed back into the quarterback he was for the majority of his career, which is why he’s bounced around the league so many times. Or perhaps the Seahawks found a younger quarterback they’re truly high on.

The 2025 NFL draft class is not considered to be particularly deep at quarterback, but that does not mean there aren’t some intriguing prospects, such as Alabama’s Jalen Milroe. According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Seahawks will be meeting with the Crimson Tide’s former starter.

Milroe is currently ESPN’s No. 5 ranked quarterback prospect, and their No. 80 overall prospect. If the draft plays out that way, pick No. 80 would land Milroe squarely in the third round.

During his two years as a starter with Alabama, Milroe led the Tide to a 21-6 overall record, which did include an SEC Championship and a trip to the College Football Playoff in 2023. In his career as a starter, Milroe threw for 6,016 yards, 45 touchdowns against 20 interceptions. He also had 1,577 career rushing yards and 33 additional touchdowns on the ground, with 20 of them coming in 2024.

Overall, Milroe is likely more of a project than a prospect that can be played in 2025 at the NFL level. But a team with a strong culture and quality coaches could be inclined to take a chance on him with a mid-round pick… such as a team like Seattle, who has five in the first three rounds, including pick No. 82 overall.
