The New York Giants have actively explored a trade up in the 2025 NFL draft based on multiple reports over the past several weeks. They have targeted the No. 1 overall pick where they would presumably select Miami quarterback Cam Ward.
Any talks between the Giants and Titans have been largely kept under wraps. Most have merely speculated on potential compensation.
Now, with days until the draft kicks off in Green Bay, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Titans have rebuffed an official offer from the Giants that included an addition third-round pick.
Now, Borgonzi has been hired to help build up the Titans’ roster. Borgonzi turned down the Giants’ overtures to trade up to No. 1 in a package of picks that would have included a third-round pick this year. Now he’ll have to see if he can find a way back into that round.
The Titans are rumored to be seeking a “historic” return for the first overall pick and the Giants clearly fell well short of that. They also have little reason to offer more than that for Ward unless they view him as a Josh Allen or Jayden Daniels-type difference-maker.
General manager Joe Schoen will likely keep working the phones right up until the Giants are on the board at No. 3 overall but at this point, they are expected to make that pick.
