Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers is on an official pre-draft visit with the Indianapolis Colts on Wednesday, according to Mike Garafolo.
Each draft cycle, every team is able to have up to 30 prospects in for visits at the team facility. It’s an opportunity for teams to do medical checks if needed, walk through film, and get to know the player.
The Colts also reportedly met with Ewers at the NFL combine.
During his three-year playing career at Texas, Ewers completed 65% of his throws at 8.0 yards per attempt with 67 touchdowns to 24 interceptions, according to PFF.
In the most recent 2024 season, Ewers threw for career highs in both yards (3,469) and touchdowns (31), although his completion rate dipped a few percentage points compared to 2023, and his turnover-worthy play rate took a big jump as well.
For more on Ewers, here is some of what Lance Zierlein of NFL.com wrote in his scouting report:
“Ewers’ arm talent and game flashes are enticing, but he hasn’t learned to play the game with a high enough level of consistency…”Ewers rarely operates as a smooth, full-field reader. He often predetermines his target and throws into coverage instead of taking what the defense is offering.”
Quinn Ewers is visiting the #Colts today, another meeting between the Texas QB and the team’s personnel and coaching staffs. Ewers visited the #Raiders the other day. With Daniel Jones and Anthony Richardson set to compete, Indy is looking at options in the draft as well. pic.twitter.com/ycXjWCeCV0

The Colts already signed Daniel Jones in free agency to compete with Anthony Richardson for the starting job. However, for a team that has kept three quarterbacks on the roster under Shane Steichen, bringing in some competition for Jason Bean for that role would be the prudent move.
In addition to that, at the game’s most important position, continually having a developmental player on the team is a smart, long-term roster-building approach, especially with the uncertainty that still lies at the quarterback position in 2026 and beyond for the Colts.
