The New York Giants, like every other team, are continuing their pre-draft evaluations and compiling their draft board for the upcoming 2025 NFL draft.

While quarterback is arguably the most important position on the field at any given time, protecting that quarterback is equally as important as who you put under center. Wanting to explore as many options as possible, the Giants reportedly held a lengthy virtual meeting with BYU offensive tackle Caleb Etienne.

At 6-foot-6 and 329 pounds, Etienne is the perfect size for an offensive lineman. He’s strong, he’s quick, and he’s athletic. However, he’s projected to be a late Day 3 pick or to go undrafted altogether because he still needs development. His footwork needs to be cleaned up, and some other aspects of his game need work before he can hit an NFL field.

Still, with the recent trend of injuries to the offensive line, it’s no wonder the Giants want to explore every option they have. And Etienne’s athleticism and intangible traits provide an opportunity for a team to help him reach the next level. Footwork, timing, bend, and other techniques are coachable issues.

The Giants have eight picks in this year’s draft. If they decide to use one on Etienne, it’s likely to be late on Day 3.
