BOSTON — A beautiful, warm May day at Fenway Park quickly turned into a rain delay Saturday.
The Red Sox’ game against the Twins was halted in the seventh inning due to a quick-arriving storm in the area. When play stopped, the Twins were leading 4-1 and Brennan Bernardino had just gotten Carlos Correa to line out for the first out of the inning. The game will restart at 7:10 p.m. ET, according to the Red Sox.
Here’s the National Weather Service forecast for the rest of the day: “Showers and thunderstorms before 4am, then showers likely. Patchy fog after 10pm. Low around 58. South wind 6 to 14 mph becoming northwest after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.”
Boston and Minnesota were tied through five innings before rookie starter Hunter Dobbins hit the wall a bit in the sixth. Minnesota went ahead, 3-1, when Roger Clemens’ son, Kody, hit a two-run homer to right field. Trevor Larnach made it 4-1 with an RBI single once Bernardino relieved Dobbins.
When play resumes, Greg Weissert will be pitching in relief of Bernardino. Brooks Lee is due up for the Twins.
