New Miami Dolphins quarterback Quinn Ewers became the face of the Texas Longhorns, but there was a time when Ohio State Buckeyes fans were optimistic the star could lead the program to a national title. After being a highly touted five-star quarterback, Ewers began his collegiate career at Ohio State.

Following a lengthy career as one of the top quarterbacks in college football, Ewers now turns his attention to the NFL.

Ewers found himself behind C.J. Stroud and Kyle McCord, only playing in one game for the Buckeyes in 2021. The quarterback admitted that his decision to begin his career at Ohio State was related to potential NIL earnings as well as his affinity for the Buckeyes coaching staff.

Now, Ewers’ focus turns from Texas to Miami as the quarterback will be fighting to make the roster as a seventh-round pick.

Ewers’ long wait through three days of the NFL draft did not appear to damper his excitement about joining the Dolphins. The new Fins quarterback reacted to being selected while posting a partnership with Panini on social media.

“Fins Up! Miami, are y’all ready? It’s time to get to work @miamidolphins,” Ewers said on X on Saturday before plugging his new NFL trading card.

As for his decision to leave Ohio State, it appears the quarterback’s heart was always at Texas. The days of Ewers rocking a mullet while wearing an Ohio State helmet now feel like a long time ago.

“The Texas Legislature wasn’t gonna allow high school football players to be paid,” Ewers said back in Jan. ahead of the Cotton Bowl matchup against Ohio State, per The Columbus Dispatch.

“Me and my family had a pretty big opportunity in front of us that we felt that it was a good for me to go on and forgo my senior year and enroll early at Ohio State and have the opportunity to have some, some good money in our pockets as a family.”
