Portland, OR – It was do-or-die in Portland as Kraken prospects clashed in a high-stakes WHL semifinal showdown. With their season on the line, the Everett Silvertips stormed into Veterans Memorial Coliseum—where they hadn’t won a playoff game since 2018—and stunned the Winterhawks with a dominant 8–4 victory to force a decisive Game 7.

Everett struck early and often. Lukas Kaplan opened the scoring within seconds, followed by goals from Julius Miettinen—his sixth of the postseason—and exceptional status star Landon DuPont on the power play, giving the Tips a 3–1 lead after one.

Jesse Heslop and Tyler MacKenzie piled on in the second, chasing Portland starter Ondřej Štěbeták after five unanswered goals. Winterhawks defenseman Tyson Jugnauth tried to spark a comeback, assisting on goals from Alex Weiermair and Diego Buttazoni to close the gap to 5–3.

But the Tips wouldn’t be denied. Goals from Nashville Predators prospect Austin Roest and Anaheim Ducks prospect Tarin Smith pushed the lead to 7–3. Portland’s Kyle Chyzowski responded with his 11th of the playoffs to end the second, but Everett shut the door in the third.

Just 50 seconds into the final frame, Shea Busch buried his sixth of the postseason, sealing the win as Jesse Sanche stood tall in net for Everett.

Now, it all comes down to Game 7 in Everett—the winner moves on to the Western Conference Final.

Other prospects news in the WHL:

Calgary at Lethbridge – Game 6 (Series Tied 3-3)  – Caden Price netted his second goal of the postseason following tallies from Noah Chadwick and Brayden Yager, snapping former Seattle Kraken coach Paul McFarland’s Hitmen’s three-game win streak and forcing a Game 7.

Spokane at Victoria – Game 5 (Spokane Leads 3-2) – Spokane captain and Kraken top prospect Berkly Catton notched two assists and the game-tying goal to force overtime. Andrew Cristall sealed the win for the Chiefs, who now return home with a chance to close out the series in Games 6 and 7.
