The Pittsburgh Steelers are using one of their top 30 visits on former Longhorns star Jaydon Blue. The Houston native visited the Steelers on Monday with the NFL Draft less than two weeks away. After one of the best seasons of his college career, Blue is an intriguing prospect.

During his last season with the Longhorns, Blue saw an increase in playing time and took advantage of his opportunities. He set career highs in carries with 134, rushing yards with 730, and touchdowns with eight. The talented running back was also used in the passing game, hauling in 42 catches for 368 yards.

Over the last few months, Blue has continued to see his stock rise. At the NFL Draft Combine, his 40-yard dash time was 4.38. That was the second-fastest time of any running back, trailing only Virginia Tech’s Bhayshal Tuten. Blue didn’t stop making headlines there, as at the Longhorns pro day, Blue’s speed was on full display.

Due to his potential, Blue has been a hot commodity leading up to the draft. He has also taken visits with the Philadelphia Eagles and Denver Broncos. That list could grow over the next few weeks as teams across the NFL finalize their draft boards. Having a player like Blue in the backfield would benefit any team.

While with the Longhorns, Blue improved every year. He finished his college career with 1,161 yards on 214 attempts. He averaged 5.4 yards a carry and found the end zone 11 times. He isn’t projected to be the vocal part of an NFL offense, but he can grow into a very effective piece with more experience.

The NFL Draft will be held in Green Bay, Wisconsin, from April 24th to 26th. Blue, like many of his former teammates, is expected to hear his name called.
