Sunday has always been a prime day for the league to showcase marquee matchups late in the regular season and during the postseason. In some years, such as this one, the first Sunday of the NBA playoffs takes place on the same day as Easter, which could perhaps give fans who celebrate the holiday a difficult decision to make as far as how to watch games without interfering with their Easter festivities.
Former Los Angeles Lakers head coach Phil Jackson coached plenty of games on Easter Sunday during his 20 seasons as an NBA head coach. But he took to X (formerly Twitter) to seemingly criticize the league for scheduling marquee games on Easter, as well as Christmas Day.

Even though many sports fans are devoted to their religious faith, plenty don’t seem to have a problem with games taking place on the same day as big religious holidays. This is a practice that has taken place for decades, and it doesn’t seem to be a problem for the league.
In fact, some of its highest-rated games in terms of television viewership each season take place on Christmas, which has long been a showcase day for the league.
