The Duck Territory team has its finger on the pulse of Oregon transfer portal news, recruiting, staff moves and more for Dan Lanning’s Ducks
The Oregon football season came to an end in disappointing fashion, as the Ducks were blown out by Ohio State in the College Football Playoff quarterfinals. They ran the table during their first season in the Big Ten, but ultimately had their worst performance in their biggest game of the campaign. Head coach Dan Lanning is entering his third offseason at the helm, and the Oregon football roster is still loaded with talented players. The Ducks are expected to compete for another Big Ten Championship and a spot in next year’s 12-team playoff, but that begins with making moves in the college football transfer portal and Oregon football recruiting.
With multiple players set to graduate and head to the NFL, Lanning will try to fill several openings by earning commitments from top players in the portal. Oregon football roster news
Freshman four-star early enrolled quarterback Jaron Keawe Sagapolutele is entering the transfer portal after flipping from Cal to Oregon on National Signing Day. The Ducks are also losing senior quarterback Dillon Gabriel, opening a quarterback competition heading into the offseason. Sophomore Dante Moore is the likely favorite to win the job, but he will be competing with sophomore Austin Novosad, Luke Moga and incoming freshman Akili Smith Jr.
There are not any quarterbacks in the transfer portal that jump out as must-have players, so the Ducks are likely going to stick with the signal callers currently on the roster. Some other players that could be heading to the NFL Draft from this year’s team include junior running back Jordan James, offensive tackle Josh Conerly Jr., wide receiver Evan Stewart and defensive tackle Derrick Harmon. Harmon is projected to be a first-round pick, making him the most likely player to depart.
The Ducks are in a special five-day window for the transfer portal, as players get five days from the end of the season to leave the program. Some difficult decisions will be made in the coming days, and Oregon will have some players it wants to add to its roster as well. Get more Oregon football roster updates at Duck Territory.
