The latest roundup of mock draft picks for the New England Patriots came with mixed opinions. What else is new for a team that still has multiple holes to fill on its roster?

But one name was more prevalent than most: LSU offensive tackle Will Campbell.

That move would make sense considering left tackle is the biggest trouble spot on the Patriots’ roster. If they have any hopes of protecting second-year quarterback Drake Maye, they’re going to need a long-term blindside protector in the lineup.

Campbell could be that guy for the Patriots, but he also might not be the best player available on the board when the team picks at No. 4. If that happens, will New England side with need or talent? The hope is that both align in a single draft pick, but that isn’t always the case.

Here’s the latest mock draft roundup for the Patriots:

NFL.com: Ashton Jeanty, RB, Boise State

NFL.com’s Chad Reuter: “In this scenario, the Patriots take the best player on the board and meet their need at offensive tackle with picks in the second and fourth rounds. New head coach Mike Vrabel knows the value that a premier back can bring, having watched Derrick Henry carry his previous Titans teams to the playoffs. While Jeanty’s not as big as Henry, he has considerable power through contact and the burst to create explosive plays in the run game.”

The Athletic: Will Campbell, OT, LSU

The Athletic’s Dane Brugler: “Should the Patriots consider Ashton Jeanty? Of course — he is arguably the best player available here. But Campbell also would be in the best available conversation at this point, plus he plays a position that’s a major need for New England. The Pats nab the best offensive lineman in the draft.”

CBS Sports: Abdul Carter, EDGE, Penn State

CBS Sports’ Tom Fornelli: “Any scenario that ends with either Abdul Carter or Travis Hunter falling to four would be a gift to the Patriots, who will hardly be able to contain their excitement when Carter falls into their lap here.”

Patriots.com: Armand Membou, OT, Missouri

Patriots.com’s Evan Lazar: “Assuming that Hunter and Carter are off the board, it comes down to Will Campbell (LSU) vs. Armand Membou (Missouri). I’ve already planted my flag on Campbell as my top left tackle in this draft in mock draft 2.0, but we’ll make the case for Membou here because it is worth discussing.”

FOX Sports: Will Campbell, OT, LSU

FOX Sports’ Geoff Schwartz: “If you’re new to my work, welcome. Those who have read what I’ve written about the 2025 draft will recognize this name as being the first offensive lineman drafted. New England has a giant hole at left tackle and needs to protect Drake Maye. This is a perfect match.

USA TODAY: Will Campbell, OT, LSU

USA TODAY’s Tyler Dragon: “The Patriots ranked 31st in pass block win rate and last in run block win rate in 2024, according to ESPN. As a result, New England had the worst total offense in the AFC. The Patriots must fortify their O-line.”

Patriots Wire: Abdul Carter, EDGE, Penn State

Patriots Wire’s Jordy McElroy: “The Giants don’t need another pass rusher, and they’ve taken far too many looks at quarterback Shedeur Sanders to simply brush it off as a mere coincidence. Russell Wilson being the starting quarterback for the Giants in a division with the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles and NFC runner-up Washington Commanders won’t make a difference.

“So the Giants make the rational decision by drafting Sanders, which allows Penn State’s Abdul Carter to fall to the Patriots. This was a no-brainer draft selection.”

ESPN.com: Will Campbell, OT, LSU

ESPN’s Mel Kiper: “With Travis Hunter and Abdul Carter both gone, this pick becomes all about the offensive line. I know a lot has been made of Campbell’s sub-33-inch arm length, but he has the footwork and pop to stick at left tackle and keep Pats quarterback Drake Maye clean.”
