Ohio transfer linebacker Shay Taylor took his official visit to West Virginia and left campus impressed with what the program was able to offer.

Taylor, 6-foot-3, 232-pounds, entered the transfer portal April 11 and that led to a scholarship offer from the Mountaineers just a few days later.

From there, Taylor took an official visit to campus which allowed him to get an idea of how he fit into everything within the program.

That included meeting with defensive coordinator Zac Alley and head coach Rich Rodriguez.

“About how they see me fitting in their defense. Very unique and highly respected coaches with a big resume to show for,” he said.

Taylor is coming off a season where he recorded 72 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, 3 sacks and an interception, which has drawn the interest of a number of programs out of the portal. Along with West Virginia, Taylor has collected offers from Virginia Tech, Wake Forest and several others.

Overall, Taylor left his visit feeling that there are opportunities in Morgantown.

“Definitely have a lot to offer,” he said.

Now, Taylor plans to sit down and figure out his next steps when it comes to visits and is looking at Virginia Tech, Wake Forest and Charlotte as possible stops.

He expects to plan that out over the weekend.

“But we will see for 100-percent soon,” he said.
