Notre Dame’s defense has stopped the Fighting Irish offense in plus territory several times in the Blue-Gold game.
This Preston Zinter “sack” on fourth down stopped the Irish offense from scoring.
Yes, it’s Notre Dame vs. Notre Dame in the annual Blue-Gold spring game. This year, the scoring system is a bit different, and getting a sack gives the defense – the “Gold” team — two points.
Zinter, a linebacker came untouched on the play, but he didn’t take quarterback Kenny Minchey to the ground — quarterbacks are off-limits for tackling in order to prevent injuries.
Head coach Marcus Freeman did say that in a game, the Irish would’ve likely opted for the field-goal in that situation, but given the nature of a practice game, he wanted to give the offense a chance to get aggressive.
