Draft week is finally here, and it is almost time for fans to see how all of the pre-draft work put in by their favorite franchise translates into results. For fans of the Tennessee Titans, the excitement is building toward a new beginning led by new general manager Mike Borgonzi.
With Cam Ward as their likely selection at No. 1 overall, the attention has shifted to the second day and what they will do with their pick at No. 35. With the Titans lacking a third-round pick, they will have to make the most of this pick unless they can add some draft capital. Which is something Adam Schefter mentioned in his 2025 NFL draft notes.
Can the Titans add more premium picks?
One team looking for more firepower on Friday night will be the Titans, who, in a bit of irony, don’t have a third-round pick thanks to their own general manager, Mike Borgonzi. Just over a year ago, Borgonzi was the assistant GM for the Chiefs and a central figure in the trade that sent cornerback L’Jarius Sneed from Kansas City to Tennessee in exchange for a 2025 third-round pick.
Now, Borgonzi has been hired to help build the Titans’ roster. Borgonzi turned down the Giants’ overtures to trade up to No. 1 in a package of picks that would have included a third-round pick this year. Now he’ll have to see if he can find a way back into that round.
Borgonzi and President of Football Operations Chad Brinker have openly discussed their desire to build through the draft and accumulate capital for the future. The Titans could use some of that capital this draft, with needs at multiple positions, specifically wide receiver and edge. Having a desire to pick up more top prospects, they could trade back from pick No. 35 or even deal a player to gain an extra selection.
Tennessee heads into the weekend with a lot of work to do, and it will be interesting to see how they address some of their needs.
