Milan breathe sigh of relief as Maignan passes initial tests after head collision

Mike Maignan was forced to be stretchered off AC Milan’s game against Udinese following a head collision. Thankfully, per the club’s communication, the goalkeeper passed the initial tests at the hospital.

It was in the 52nd minute that Alex Jimenez and Maignan both chased down a ball, coming from opposite directions at high speed. The two clashed and the goalkeeper seemingly got knocked out, stretchered off the pitch just a few minutes later after initial treatment on the pitch.

Maignan was conscious as he left the pitch but naturally, Milan and their fans were still worried about his condition. Thankfully, as relayed by our correspondent Luca Maninetti, the goalkeeper passed the initial tests at the hospital in Udine, thus ruling out any serious head injury.

The next step will be to decide the observation period, so it remains to be seen what his condition will be like for the Atalanta game. However, the most important thing is that he’s okay as the collision looked very nasty indeed.

Sergio Conceicao praised the Udinese fans for expressing their support at the time of the collision, having previously booed the keeper in the game. Credit must also be given to the Udinese players as they reacted quickly, calling for medical help.
