UFC main cards, 2025: 37-33-1

Mason Jones vs. Jeremy Stephens UFC on ESPN 67 preview

Jones (15-2 MMA, 1-2 UFC) enters this fight on a four-fight winning streak. His current run which includes three stoppages under the Cage Warriors banner has led him to get another crack in the UFC. Jones’ first stint from 2021-22 saw one win, two losses and a no contest. … While Jones gets a second chance, Stephens (29-21 MMA, 15-18 UFC) gets his third in an opportunity to fill a slot in his hometown. After his most recent exit from the UFC, Stephens tested his skills under the PFL banner before dabbling in boxing and finding his stride in bareknuckle boxing.

Mason Jones vs. Jeremy Stephens UFC on ESPN 67 expert pick, prediction

Kicking off the main card in classic Joe Silva fashion is a lightweight bout between Jones and Stephens.

I’m unsure if it’s a one-off deal, but I’m happy to see the UFC brass bring back one of their veteran warhorses for a hometown scrap. Stephens will have an uphill battle, however, as he draws a Cage Warriors product in Jones.

I was a big fan of Jones in his first run with the promotion and don’t disagree with him being favored here, but the Welsch fighter’s porous defense and aggressive sensibilities will give Stephens ample opportunity to land some hard shots. Although it would be awesome to see Stephens return to form in his hometown, it’s hard to trust his game to hold up at this advanced stage of his career.

The pick is Jones by submission in Round 2.
