LSU Baseball’s series win over No. 5 Tennessee drew record crowds to Baton Rouge and television sets around the country.
The No. 2 Tigers set a three-game series record with 38,142 total fans inside Alex Box Stadium throughout the set against the Volunteers. Its biggest crowd of the weekend came on Saturday, which finished with an attendance of 13,376.
As one of the nation’s most consistent top-five programs, LSU often broadcasts on its conference’s network. Five of the program’s last six SEC games aired on linear television, from the SEC Network to ESPN. The Tigers’ series opener against No. 21 Alabama was picked up by ESPN2, while Saturday’s contest against Tennessee aired on ESPNU.
Thanks to plenty of highlight reel plays and close contests, LSU gained 13.77 million impressions across its social media platforms during the Tennessee series. It estimates the value of those posts at $558,000. The Tigers scored six runs in the bottom of the ninth of Friday’s game to win in walk-off fashion and hit seven home runs across the three games.
LSU heads to Texas A&M next weekend for a three-game set starting Friday. It will play two more SEC series before the start of the conference tournament on May 20.
