Lautaro Martinez is targeting Sandro Mazzola, Boninsegna, and Alessandro Altobelli in the Inter Milan all-time scoring charts.
Today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, highlight the current Nerazzurri captain’s quest to join the ranks of legends.
Inter captain Lautaro Martinez has been on the scoresheet in each of the last three matches.
The Argentine has taken his total goal tally with the Nerazzurri to 150 in the process.
Meanwhile, Martinez has scored more than twenty goals in five of his seven seasons at the club. And he is on track to be Inter’s top scorer for the fourth season running.
Lautaro Chases Down Mazzola, Boninsegna & Altobelli In Inter Scoring Charts
With his 150 goals, Lautaro Martinez is now six away from Luigi Cevenini in the all-time Inter scoring charts.
That means that the 27-year-old has every chance of catching – or surpassing – Cevenini in fifth spot before the end of the season.
And once Martinez breaks into the top five, he would have a number of absolute legends in his sights.
Legendary European Cup winner Sandro Mazzola scored 160 goals in an Inter shirt in total.
Moreover, Martinezs 115 Serie A goals are just one away from Mazzola’s 116 in the league.
Then, Roberto Boninsegna is in third on 171 goals for Inter.
A little further out of sight for Lautaro Martinez would be Alessandro Altobelli. He scored a total of 209 goals for the club.
And still way, way off in the distance is the iconic Giuseppe Meazza. It would still take some doing for Martinez to even get close to Meazza’s 287 total goals for Inter.
