The Phog.net team has deep-rooted ties inside the Jayhawks program and reveals the latest Kansas basketball roster under and offseason news
Bill Self is one of the top coaches in the country, but the two-time national champion will have to go back to the drawing board after Kansas basketball suffered its most losses (13) in a season since 1982-83 and failed to win an NCAA Tournament game for the first time since 2006. Kansas will also lose its top four scorers to graduation. Self already landed Class of 2025 five-star Darryn Peterson, who will become the No. 1 recruit in the latest 247Sports ranking update, and now he’ll turn to the college basketball transfer portal to fill out the Indiana basketball roster.
The Jayhawks also signed four-star high school recruit Samis Calderon and have secured two commitments already in the portal. Who are the other Kansas basketball transfer targets and can Self make any late additions in the Class of 2025? Kansas basketball roster news
The Jayhawks entered the college basketball transfer portal, which closes on April 22, with seven scholarships open, and they’ve already managed to fill two spots. Tre White averaged 10.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game last year for Illinois after spending the first two years of his collegiate career at USC and Louisville. The 6-foot-7 wing is 12 points shy of 1,000 for his career and he’ll hunt that milestone at Kansas after committing on April 5.
Self also landed a commitment from Loyola Chicago guard Jayden Dawson, who earned All A-10 honors for the Ramblers last season. Dawson is a 6-foot-4 combo guard that averaged 13.9 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game last season while shooting 36.3% from the 3-point line. He spent the first three seasons of his career at Loyola and will have one remaining season of eligibility for Kansas. Get the latest Kansas basketball roster news at Phog.net.
