If you have been following LSU baseball this season, there is one question that Tiger fans have been asking since the season started, “Where is Gavin Guidry?”
Last season, Guidry broke out as a relief pitcher and became one of the best players out of the bullpen. He finished with a 2-0 record and a 2.59 ERA. In 24.1 innings, he struck out 36 hitters and walked 18.
Going into this season, he was the guy a lot of people looked at to fill the role Griffin Herring left when he was drafted by the New York Yankees. Guidry was the guy who was supposed to slam the door on any opposing team late in the game.
Yet, here we are, 38 games into the season, and Guidry has not pitched a game. News has been coming out each week about how he may be coming back soon, but that timeline kept getting pushed back. Now, we have an answer. Last week, Jay Johnson said that he would not be against using a redshirt on Guidry if he needed to, now it seems as though it is the option he has to choose.
He’ll have season-ending back surgery on Friday. #LSUhttps://t.co/QC5qn4ZuHj

Guidry was a Junior this season but he can medically redshirt and have two years of eligibility remaining. But, Guidry is also draft-eligible. There is a chance a team takes a flier on him in the MLB Draft and we never see him again at LSU.
