Buffalo continued their emphasis on developing the defensive side of the ball, selecting Arkansas defensive end Landon Jackson with the 72nd overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Jackson, much like second-round pick TJ Sanders, attacks blockers with power and strength. Jackson isn’t necessarily a pass rusher with a large repertoire of moves, but he wins with his hands and can push linemen into the backfield. Buffalo found a player that fits with their defensive end archetype, as Jackson’s massive wingspan gives him an upper edge on offensive linemen.

One of the knocks on Jackson is that he is a bit stiff, lacking some of the change-of-direction moves that make him a more unpredictable pass rusher. In addition, Jackson will need to work on some details with his technique against the run. On film, there were times where his pad level was a bit high.

However, the Bills love his high motor and energy. Jackson is a beast. Buffalo can funnel Jackson’s raw power into other moves. The Bills coaching staff can help him clean up some of the concerns with his technique.

Jackson has the time to develop into a strong pass rusher in the league. With Greg Rousseau, Joey Bosa, AJ Epenesa, and Michael Hoecht on the roster, the Bills do not need to rush Jackson into game action. Most likely, he will be battling 2024 fifth-round pick Javon Solomon for the final defensive end roster spot.
