After suffering a hard fall in the first quarter of Game 2 against the Houston Rockets on Wednesday, Jimmy Butler missed the final three quarters of the Golden State Warriors‘ 109-94 loss on Wednesday with a pelvic contusion.
Following an MRI on returning to the Bay Area, the veteran wing was initially listed as questionable for Saturday’s Game 3 at Chase Center. Prior to tip-off on Saturday, Shams Charania of ESPN reported Butler has been ruled out for Game 3 against the Rockets.

With Butler sidelined, Steve Kerr will elevate Jonathan Kuminga to the starting lineup on Saturday, per Charania. Kuminga fell out of Golden State’s rotation, not playing in three consecutive games, including the season finale against the Los Angeles Clippers, the play-in tournament against the Memphis Grizzlies and Game 1 against the Rockets.
Kuminga entered Game 2 following Butler’s injury. In 26 minutes off the bench, Kuminga tallied 11 points on 4-of-12 shooting from the field in Golden State’s Game 2 loss.
Game 3 is set to start at 5:30 p.m. PT on Saturday in San Francisco.
