The Minnesota Vikings have spent over $153 million on free agents over the past month, the second-highest total in the league. However, now that they are out from under Kirk Cousins’ contract and have moved on from Sam Darnold, they are seeing the benefits of a rookie-scale quarterback contract being allocated to J.J. McCarthy.

According to OverTheCap, that leaves the Vikings with $17.259 million in cap space, only the 11th-lowest mark in the league. That should be more than enough to sign their draft class and undrafted free agents, even if the team opts to trade down from the 24th overall pick.

The extra cap space could also be enough for the Vikings to try swinging a trade for a veteran on draft weekend. Kwesi Adofo-Mensah has pushed some money from new contracts into 2026 to keep additional flexibility for 2025. As we inch closer to the pinnacle of the NFL’s offseason, it’s worth monitoring.
