Apr. 19—Collin Michaud set a school record with 10 goals as Lewiston opened its boys lacrosse season Saturday with a 20-8 win at Hampden Academy.
Michaud, a sophomore, also had two assists.
Ben Gradwell and Coleman Mercier each scored his first varsity goal for Lewiston, and senior goalie Brock Rancourt made 12 saves.
CHEVERUS 16, BIDDEFORD 5: Quin Gleason put in six goals and set up two others as the Stags cruised past the Tigers in a mutual season opener in Portland.
Matt Paradis and Jack Gentillini each chipped in with three goals. Quinn McCoy scored twice, and Jackson Dube and Nick Dube got one apiece.
Wyatt Labonte and Beau Hubbard each netted two goals for Biddeford, which also got a goal from Xavier De La Torre.
GIRLS LACROSSE
GORHAM 14, CAPE ELIZABETH 9: Logan Doughty scored a tiebreaking goal late in the third quarter, and the Rams pulled away from the visiting Capers (0-2) to win their season opener.
Haylie Nicely and Londyn Wright led Gorham with three goals apiece. Doughty and Kennady Peary each added two goals, Natalie Miner, Kat LaPierre and Piper Forgues also scored, and the Rams benefited from an own goal.
Gorham goalie Madison Tibbals made eight saves.
Campbell DeGeorge and Libby Hooper accounted for all of Cape Elizabeth’s goals, including five by DeGeorge.
FRIDAY’S GIRLS LACROSSE
SOUTH PORTLAND 14, NOBLE 7: Lauren Steady paced the Red Riots with seven goals in a season-opening win at home.
Amelia Burton-Fowler made 22 saves for South Portland, which also got three goals from Cara Inman, two from Cassidy Clyde, and one each from Abigail Thayer and Amelia Saunders.
Noble’s Erin Gould, Emma Warren and Ashley Merchant all scored twice. Isabella Costello was the other goal scorer.
