Wrestlemania 41, the “Showcase of the Immortals,” is this weekend.

Starting in 1985, Wrestlemania is the annual grand finale for all of World Wrestling Entertainment’s athletic sagas and back-breaking dramas, the culmination of months of narrative build-up.

This year’s Wrestlemania is going to see Newbury, Massachusetts, hero-turned-villain John Cena face off against the defending champion “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship in the main event of the second night of “The Show of Shows.”

Wrestlemania is set to be held in Las Vegas, Nevada, this year, specifically in the Allegiant Stadium, home to the Las Vegas Raiders, and will begin on Saturday, April 19 and continuing through Sunday, April 20.

With a New England wrestling icon performing in the main event, one wonders: Has Wrestlemania ever been hosted in New England?

Has Wrestlemania ever been in New England

Yes, Wrestlemania has been held in New England but only once.

Wrestlemania 14 took place inside TD Garden (it was known at the time as FleetCenter) in Boston, Massachusetts, on March 29, 1998.

It was the Wrestlemania that saw Stone Cold Steve Austin take the World Wrestling Federation championship title away from Shawn Michaels with Mike Tyson counting the pinfall. It was the first Wrestlemania of the Attitude Era, a period of time that would see professional wrestling explode into mainstream culture.

Since then, there has not been Wrestlemania in New England; however, that doesn’t mean there won’t be one in the future.
