The report surrounding George Pickens’ “love” of Mike Tomlin and the Steelers may have been blown out of proportion, as one insider claims things have not gone well between the two parties.
Within a video posted on Bleacher Report, insider James Palmer shed light on why he believes Pickens’ time in the Steel City could soon be over:
“I didn’t see — I really wasn’t sold on a [George Pickens trade] happening during the draft. There was a lot of rumors about that, and I understand the rumors because his time in Pittsburgh, in a lot of people’s minds, is limited — mine included, for several reasons. You don’t pay DK Metcalf what you paid him and then pay the other receiver a high-caliber salary,” Palmer stated. “It has not gone well behind the scenes, at all, between George Pickens and the Pittsburgh Steelers — and everybody involved.”
Palmer concluded that Pickens will likely be traded before the start of the 2026 season — which aligns with insider Gerry Dulac’s comments that Pickens could be moved at next year’s draft to help the Steelers trade up for a top quarterback.
It appears fans will get to witness Metcalf and Pickens wreak havoc on opposing defensive backs for at least the 2025 season — but beyond that, rumors and speculation have not been kind to the troubled Steelers receiver.
