Former Wisconsin and current Kansas Jayhawks offensive lineman Logan Brown signed with the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent on Saturday.
Brown is the third former Wisconsin transfer off to the NFL level, following Graham Mertz and Chimere Dike (both via Florida), who were each selected on Day 3 of the draft. He is the seventh former Badger overall, with Jack Nelson and Hunter Wohler going in the draft and Joe Huber and R.J. Delancy signing as UDFAs.
The Kansas lineman originally joined the Badgers as a five-star recruit in the class of 2019, ranked as the No. 7 overall player in the country, No. 1 offensive tackle and No. 1 recruit from his home state of Michigan. According to 247Sports, he is the third-highest-ranked recruit in Wisconsin program history, behind OT Nolan Rucci (2021) and OT Josh Oglesby (2007).
At Wisconsin, Brown was unable to live up to the sky-high expectations that followed his recruitment. He appeared in all 20 of the program’s games from 2020-21, primarily as a reserve lineman and on special teams. He then held a similar role through the first half of the 2022 season before entering the transfer portal in mid-October after the program moved on from head coach Paul Chryst.
Brown eventually committed to Kansas that November. He appeared in just two games as a redshirt junior in 2023 before breaking out as a senior this past season, starting 11 of 12 games and finishing with an overall ProFootballFocus grade of 82.5.
Vikings UDFA class:
Tyler Batty, OLB, BYU
Silas Bolden, WR, Texas
Max Brosmer, QB, Minnesota
Logan Brown, OL, Kansas
Chaz Chambliss, OLB, Georgia
Oscar Chapman, P, Auburn (International Player Pathway Program)
Zeke Correll, OL, N.C. State
Dontae Fleming, WR, Tulane

After many pre-draft projections had Brown slotted in the fifth or sixth round, his signing as an UDFA is somewhat of a surprise. He joins Wisconsin guard Joe Huber in that regard. Both players have since signed on with the Vikings as UDFAs.
