What grades did the experts give the Jacksonville Jaguars for their Day 2 NFL draft selections?
Without a second-round pick after trading up for Travis Hunter on Day 1, the Jaguars didn’t make their first pick until Round 3. This came at 88th overall when they selected defensive back Caleb Ransaw, and then eventually at 89th overall–after two separate trades–where Jacksonville took offensive lineman Wyatt Milum.
Ransaw brings a versatile presence to the secondary and is a terrific athlete. Most of his snaps at Tulane came from the nickel, but he has some boundary and strong safety experience on top of that.
GM James Gladstone mentioned that Ransaw will play safety in this defense. Given his previous experience playing in the box and in the slot, he potentially could compete for those starting snaps next to Eric Murray.
Milum, meanwhile, comes to the NFL as an incredibly experienced player. All of his college snaps came at tackle, but he’s expected to play guard at the NFL level, although he does give the Jaguars the flexibility to move him around if needed.
At a minimum, he bolsters the interior depth, which was needed, but Milum will also raise the overall level of competition. The Jaguars may have added heavily to the offensive line in free agency, but there are still unknowns regarding what they actually have when it comes to the starting five. And when that’s the case, the prudent move is to give yourself options.
So with the dust having somewhat settled on these selections, what grades did the Jaguars receive?
