The second day of the 2025 NFL draft will be held Friday with rounds 2-3 at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
Tennessee had one former Vol selected in the first round on Thursday. Defensive lineman James Pearce Jr. was drafted by Atlanta with the No. 26 overall pick.
ESPN released a mock draft for the second round Friday. Former Tennessee running back Dylan Sampson is projected to Kansas City with the No. 63 overall pick.
“There was a drum beat of support from Chiefs fans for a running back early in this draft,” Matt Miller of ESPN said. “Now they can get one with the uber-productive Sampson. His outside speed and vision, plus hands in the receiving game, are what Kansas City’s offense has been missing in the screen and run game.”
If Sampson is drafted by the Chiefs, he would play alongside offensive lineman and former Vol Trey Smith. Smith played at Tennessee from 2017-20.
Sampson appeared in 35 games at Tennessee from 2022-24. He recorded 2,492 rushing yards, 35 rushing touchdowns, 40 receptions, 342 receiving yards, one receiving touchdown and 28 kick return yards.
