The Chicago Sky opened their 2025 preseason with a convincing 89-62 victory over Brazil’s national team at LSU’s Pete Maravich Assembly Center on May 2. In her return to Baton Rouge, Angel Reese—who led the WNBA in rebounds per game last season—posted another impressive double-double, finishing the night with 15 points, 10 rebounds and two steals in 16 minutes.
Chicago’s coaching staff, under head coach Tyler Marsh, emphasized defensive intensity and improved ball movement during training camp scrimmages leading up to the Brazil game, with veteran guards Courtney Vandersloot and Kia Nurse orchestrating the offense and rookies integrating quickly into the rotation.
On Saturday, the Sky’s official X account announced a trio of roster cuts:
“ROSTER UPDATE: The Chicago Sky have waived Tilly Boler, Arella Guirantes, and Sammie Puisis.”
All three appeared in the Brazil game, earning their chance to compete for final roster spots, but won’t be part of the team returning to action against the Minnesota Lynx next week.

Guirantes, a 5’11” guard selected 22nd overall by the Los Angeles Sparks in 2021, averaged 1.3 points and 0.7 rebounds over nine games with the Seattle Storm in 2023 before joining Chicago’s camp this spring.
Boler, a 6’1″ guard from Jackson State, signed a training-camp deal after going undrafted; she averaged 12.3 points and 4.8 rebounds in her final collegiate season.
Puisis, a 6’1″ guard from South Florida, also undrafted, impressed with a 15.5 points-per-game average and 39% three-point shooting in college; she competed for a backup guard role.
The Sky close out preseason with two matchups against the Lynx—May 6 at Wintrust Arena and May 10 in Minneapolis—before opening the regular season May 17 at home against the Indiana Fever. Final roster decisions will hinge on these contests, as Chicago aims to challenge for a playoff berth in 2025.
