The Denver Broncos have reached agreements with 15 undrafted free agents so far (but those deals are yet to be announced as official). One of the more intriguing names on the list of apparent UDFA additions is Missouri pass rusher Johnny Walker.

Walker (6-2, 246 pounds) joined the Tigers as a redshirt freshman out of Tampa in 2020. He then served as a rotational player from 2021-2022, recording two sacks in each of those seasons. Walker had a breakout stretch from 2023-2024, totaling 87 tackles (23 behind the line), 14.5 sacks, six forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and one pass breakup in his final two years at Missouri. He led the school in sacks in each of the last two seasons, including 9.5 last fall.

His on-field performance numbers look good, but his offseason testing left much to be desired for NFL scouts, which might explain why he went undrafted. Walker scored a 4.70 “RAS” score out of 10 after running a 40-yard dash in 4.82 seconds.

There have been cases of players not testing well before going on to have success in the NFL, so we should perhaps take the above score with a grain of salt. Denver obviously saw upside in Walker when the team signed him as an UDFA.

Walker will report to the Broncos this week for rookie minicamp, then he’ll return for organized team activities in late May. Walker will face an uphill battle to make the 53-man roster, but the productive pass rusher will be an UDFA to watch this summer.
