The Kansas City Chiefs have been busy this offseason, taking advantage of free agency and trading away a key team member in preparation for 2025 and beyond.

Earlier in the week, NFL Network analyst Brian Baldinger gave candid thoughts on the changes to the left side of the Chiefs’ offensive line.

“I mean, I was a little shocked that they threw money at Jaylon Moore; he’s been a backup to Trent Williams. He did start five games last year. He’s got 12 starts over his four years in this league,” said Baldinger. “They must have seen enough of them. I didn’t think he was very good on the edge against elite guys. But it’s not just left tackle. I mean, they got Kingsley Suamataia playing left guard now, too, to replace two, and that’s the first-team All-Pro guard, so I’ve never seen him play guard. Not to say he can’t; he’s a world of talent.”

The trade of All-Pro Joe Thuney to the Chicago Bears opened the door for Suamataia to transition to left guard.

“I thought they gave up on him pretty early after two starts in Kansas City a year ago. Now they’re kicking him inside, so it’s a brand new left side,” said Baldinger. “So not only are they trying to solve two positions, but two guys have to get to know each other. To your point, this off-season is very important for their communication and building the trust I thought they had at one point.”

Moore will have high expectations as the early favorite to be the starter at left tackle. Baldinger’s criticism is understandable due to his lack of starter experience.
