The Cincinnati Bengals expect big things from their draft picks over the first two days of the 2025 NFL draft.
That especially includes third-round pick Dylan Fairchild, who the team expects to come in right away and compete for the left guard job.
The NFL had hardly announced Cincinnati’s selection of the guard from Georgia before head coach Zac Taylor was in front of the microphone dropping the following: “He’ll come in and compete to start at left guard right away. ….We were crossing our fingers he would be there.”
A pass-blocker first and foremost, Fairchild certainly has a chance to win a starting job in training camp, just like former Bulldogs teammate Amarius Mims was on track to do last summer before a smaller injury.
Fairchild making that happen would put him above Cordell Volson on the depth chart, leaving right guard to a competition between Lucas Patrick and Cody Ford.
As for Fairchild? His thoughts about protecting Joe Burrow will have fans fired up: “It’s an honor. It’s an honor. It’s something I’m going to live and die by every day. It’s the biggest honor of my life.”
