Apr. 21—BEMIDJI — For the first time since 2022, a Bemidji State baseball student-athlete has been selected as an NSIC Player/Pitcher of the Week.
Senior pitcher Brandon Lind was named the NSIC Pitcher of the Week, announced by the league on Monday.
Lind is the first Beaver Baseball student-athlete to earn the honor since Will Lavin on April 12, 2022.
The Hibbing native made one appearance during the week and made the most of it. He pitched seven innings of shutout baseball Saturday afternoon against Northern State.
Lind held the Wolves to just two hits in the Beavers’ 10-2 win at the BSU Baseball Field and allowed just five base runners in total after giving up three walks. He struck out five batters to earn his third win of the season, most by a Beaver pitcher since Hunter Haggenmiller in 2021. He is now tied for seventh in the NSIC with 46 strikeouts this season and is 11 shy of becoming the 13th pitcher in program history to reach 100 career strikeouts.
Lind was joined by Winona State’s Cole Fuecker as the NSIC Player of the Week after be batted .545 with five home runs and five doubles.
Lind and the Beavers end their seven-game home stand with a doubleheader against U-Mary Wednesday afternoon at the BSU Baseball Field.
