The wait to begin postseason play will last one more day for Claremore baseball.
Due to heavy rain and soggy field conditions at Legendary Legion Field at Murray-Pixley Park, the start of the Class 5A East Regional 8 tournament has been postponed to Thursday. The Zebras, the host and top seed, now begin their playoff run at 11 a.m. Thursday against Nathan Hale.
Claremore (28-9) is seeking its first state tournament berth since 2019 and will need three wins to claim the regional title. If it defeats Hale in Game 1, it will advance to face the winner of Coweta and Tahlequah — which play at 1:30 p.m. — in the regional semifinal at 4 p.m. Thursday.
A win there would send the Zebras to the championship game at 6:30 p.m. Friday. If needed, a winner-take-all final would be played at 2 p.m. Saturday.
Claremore has won seven of its last eight games entering the postseason. It owns a combined 20-2 run differential in two regular-season wins over Tahlequah. Coweta (17-16) and Hale (9-20) round out the bracket.
Tickets for all games are $7 and available online at ossaa.com via GoFan.
